May always feels like the unofficial beginning of summer. Or maybe April does since that’s when I first start going to the pool. But May is really when the rest of the people in my life transition into summer vacation mode.
May was a busy month, too. A trip to see family, actually two trips to see family and my attempt to finally finish this book. Plus so much time at the pool.
I’m fully convinced I was a mermaid in another life, since all I want to do is be at the pool or the beach with a book and a good drink.
Writing Updates
Saturday afternoon, May 31st, I finally finished the edits/rewrite for this draft. I wrote and edited 30,504 words. It feels good to have that draft done and to take a much needed break.
Reading Updates
While it took me longer to write my book than I wanted, I did get more reading done. I made it through a few audiobooks and managed to squeak out three books in the last week.
Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry
The Art of Catching Feelings by Alicia Thompson (audiobook)\
Grave Reservations by Cherie Priest
The Favorites by Layne Fargo
Four Weekends and a Funeral by Ellie Palmer
Love at First Spite by Anne E. Collins (audiobook)
Red River Road by Anna Downes
The Murder After the Night Before by Katy Brent (audiobook)
The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers
Love Me Softly by Ellie Harper Smith
By far my best reading month so far this year. And getting the draft done is a big win, too. While it's easy to feel lost in the day to day grind, I do find writing these little recaps help put it into perspective better what I accomplished the last month.
