November 2025 Recap
November is always the month where I feel my brain shift from this year to next year. With my birthday in the middle of the month, I always start thinking about what the next year of my life will look like. And I’ll share more about that at the end of the month, but I’m really thinking about how I make myself better in this next year.
I have many reasons to believe that I’m neurodivergent, probably slightly on the autism spectrum. One thing I’d love to do in the next year is get tested for that and confirm whether it’s true or not.
There are other things on my mind for the next year but that’s for later on. Today is about looking back.
Life Update
Man, November was busy. I spent the first three weekends hanging out at my grandparents house, seeing my aunts, my mom, and my aunts again. I still have three of my four grandparents alive and I know that time is fleeting and I want to spend as much time as I can with them (but also need to balance my own life, too). Spending time with them at the holidays is important.
In addition to spending time with my grandparents, we had Friendsgiving, my birthday, and my best friend and I saw an early screening of Wicked: For Good. We watched the first movie before seeing it and did the Chili’s margaritas (do not recommend though). It was nice to have someone who wanted to hang out with me on my birthday and do what I want.
Besides that, I went back to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving this past weekend. It was good to see my paternal grandfather who lives close to them (I live close to my maternal grandparents here in Austin) and I got to hang out with a bunch of Aggies as we watched them lose to UT. It was fun until we threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter and lost the game.
Oh well, maybe next year.
Writing Update
I didn’t write anything during November, just a lot of spellchecking at the beginning of the month before my book, And She Runs, came out. At some point I will start the sequel and I’ve done some brainstorming but I really need to hit the ground running during December to get a first draft done.
Reading Update
Well as dismal as writing was, my reading was even worse. Straight up, I’m just in a funk, I only read two books in November. Whoops.
Never Over by Clare Gilmore
Wild Dark Shore by Charolette McConaghy
November was a month that was mostly a bad rut, sprinkled with fun moments. But I need to get out of the rut for my own sanity. But there are so many steps that go into that, and I am stuck trying to get past the first step (I know what it is, it’s my job).
But that’s a story for another time.
