There are some months that just require you to follow along to the theme (I don’t make up the rules). February is for romance novels, especially novels by Black authors, to honor two things at once.
December always has something related to Christmas and the holidays, whether it’s a Christmas mystery or a romance.
October is for the spooky books - the mysteries that are more horror than anything else. Books that might be a little darker than what I read on a regular basis. I find most of my horror books through Book of the Month, and they did not disappoint this month.
As of the time I’m writing this, I’m currently on book forty-four out of fifty for the year. I won’t stop after I hit fifty books read, but I will consider it the goal I’ve achieved this year (if you know, you know). If everything goes well, I should hit that goal this month.
My October Reading List
The Unknown by Riley Sager
The Shadows by Alex North
Dissection of a Murder by Jo Murray
Bath Haus by P.J. Vernon
Kiss Slay Replay by Rachel Harrison
Final Girls by Riley Sager
Pretty Dead Things by Kelsey Cox
This Story Might Save Your Life by Tiffany Crum
When the Night Comes Knocking by Katherine Daniel
I think that last book, When the Night Comes Knocking, is going to be my Halloween book. The cover looks absolutely creepy and the premise is, too.
If I read Final Girls by Riley Sager, I will officially have caught up on his backlist. I read a bunch of his books back in 2022-2023 and have kept up with his new releases, but this is the last book I just never manage to get to. I will read it this year.
With it being rainy the last two days or so, I’ve found myself snuggled up on the couch with my kindle a few times, listening to the sound of the rain and just reading. That combination just does something magical for my soul.
Whether you’re reading romance or horror or something completely different this month, I hope your TBR list is full of fun reads.
